KIWANIS VILLAGE LODGE is looking for volunteers for the following:

Knitting Group or 1:1Volunteer

Kiwanis Lodge hosts a knitting program for the residents once a month focusing on simple projects such as knitting squares, scarves or other small, manageable items.  They are seeking a volunteer who can provide guidance and encouragement, either one on one or in a small group setting, to help the residents enjoy the calming and creative process of knitting. No formal teaching experience is required for this position; just patience, a love of knitting and a willingness to share your skills.  Scheduling is flexible, but Kiwanis is hoping to offer the program on weekday or weekend afternoons.

Chess Companion Volunteer – 1:1

Kiwanis Lodge is looking for a volunteer to play chess one on one with a resident who enjoys the game. This is a wonderful opportunity to build a meaningful connection while engaging in friendly matches that keep the mind active and sharp. This volunteer does not need to be a chess master; this just requires a willingness to play, chat and enjoy the game together; scheduling is flexible. This volunteer should have the ability to play chess, be kind, patient, have confidence and have the ability to initiate one to one visits after a training period.

All these volunteer positions with Kiwanis require an RCMP Criminal Record Check; this is paid for by the agency. For more information about these positions, please contact Bianca by phone: 250-640-2836 Ext. 128 or via email:biancav@kiwanisvillage.ca.
