The Volunteer Tutor Program is looking for people who can support Vancouver Island University students and help them gain confidence in their courses.  The tutor program prioritizes adult learners who are developing their literacy or upgrading their high school diplomas. More than expertise in a subject, an ideal tutor brings the right attitude: patience, creativity, and a passion to see others succeed. VIU has a high demand for subjects like writing skills, basic math concepts, and science. Tutors must be familiar with subject matter at the student’s level of work. Preference will be given to experienced tutors, teachers and subject professionals (retired or otherwise), but some resources are provided.
