As a Volunteer Driver, you would be providing transportation services to the guest artists to and from their respective hotels and the Nanaimo Airport or the ferry terminals. Responsibilities include: monitoring travel arrangements, tracking changes in flight arrival/departure details, assisting with loading an unloading luggage and instruments as needed, and ensuring timely arrival and providing a welcoming environment for artists. A reliable vehicle suitable for transporting people, baggage and musical instruments, valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are all required. Strong communication skills are also required. You would need to available one or two days a month; transportation requests are limited to the hours between 9AM and 7:30 PM.
As a Hospitality Volunteer, you would be ensuring musicians have refreshments backstage for rehearsals and performances. Responsibilities include the following: setting up a hot beverage and snack station in the green room for 20-50 people, preparing and replenish cookies, coffee and tea for the musician breaks, washing dishes and ensuring the refreshment station remains tidy. A positive and approachable demeanour is essential. Also required is the ability to interact professionally with artists and staff, and to have an attention to detail. You will require the ability to manage snacks, drinks and other hospitality needs. You would need to be available during concert days, including evenings and weekends.
