NANAIMO FAMILY LIFE ASSOCIATION (NFLA)

NFLA is seeking volunteers to join the Friendly Visiting Program. Friendly Visitors are matched one-to-one with isolated seniors or adults in the Nanaimo community to provide companionship and connection. As a Friendly Visitor, you’ll spend time with your matched client doing simple, meaningful activities such s chatting, going for short walks, playing games or sharing hobbies. The time commitment for this position is approximately 1 to 2 hours per week, with a minimum 6–month commitment. Compassionate and patient volunteers, with good listening skills are required

NFLA is looking for volunteers for the Assisted Grocery Shopping Program. Volunteers would meet a senior at a local grocery store and provide light physical assistance such as pushing the grocery cart, placing the groceries into the cart, and carrying groceries to the check out or to the senior’s vehicle. Friendly, reliable and patient volunteers are required, who are able to commit to regular visits (weekly or bi-weekly).

A Criminal Record Check is required for both these volunteer positions with NFLA; this is not paid for by the agency.
